If you’ve ever thought about having just the perfect spot outdoors to retreat to after work or on weekends then we can help.  Often with just a little creativity and a few changes an already existing spot can be transformed.

These clients already had a small concrete patio off the back of the house but wanted to not only spruce it up but add some additional square footage and correct some drainage.  We laid Oklahoma flagstone on top of the existing concrete patio and then added an extension to the patio space, again using Oklahoma flagstone.  This created more usable space while at the same time removing a badly drained area that was made worse by the roof runoff along the dripline.

We were able to use large river rock to create a dry creek bed area off to the side of the patio area that created a channel for the water to move away from the house and out of the backyard.  To make this space usable we added large flagstone slabs for easy walking thus creating a path to the side gate within the dry creek bed.

We added other smaller areas of river rock instead of mulch to cover some planted beds which not only improved drainage in those areas but also added accents of the river rock to complement the dry creek bed.

The overall effect is one of the clean lines and much more usable space.  There is no room for a cozy outdoor living area that looks out over the backyard while at the same time offering plenty of room to spread out and add tables and chairs when it comes time for entertaining.
